Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
They regulate care provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies and voluntary organisations and aim to make sure better care is provided for everyone - in hospitals, care homes and people's own homes.
The CQC has rated each care home and domiciliary care agency using a star rating system;
0 star = poor
1 star = adequate
2 star = good
3 star = excellent
At best-care-home we only list 3 star 'Excellent' rated care homes and domiciliary care agencies. However, the CQC stopped rating care homes and domiciliary agencies in June 2010 and at the present time they have not announced the rating system that will replace the star ratings.
Best-care-home is dedicated to helping you find the best care in England and will continue to list only those homes that the CQC rate at the highest standard. In order to help you distinguish between the best care homes on this website we also encourage members of the public to leave personal recommendations about care homes and domiciliary care services that they would recommend to others.
